The Odisha state government launched the Inter Caste Marriage Scheme in Odisha in 2024. To promote intercourse managers among the citizens of Odisha state the Odisha state government launched the Inter Caste Marriage Scheme. Under the scheme, the Odisha State Authority will provide financial assistance and other benefits to all the citizens who engage in inter-caste marriages. The financial aid of INR 1.5 lakh will be given to all applicants selected under the Inter Caste Marriage Scheme. The financial aid will be transferred directly to the selected applicant’s bank account. Eligibility Criteria
- Inter-caste marriages are solemnized between the caste Hindus and the Scheduled Castes belonging to the Hindu community. The marriage should be valid as per the law and duly registered under the Hindu Marriage Act, of 1955.
- The bride and groom must be permanent residents of Odisha estate and belong to the Hindu religion.
- One of the spouses must belong to the scheduled caste category.
- Incentives would be given for the purchase of lands/essential articles for households or for starting a business.
- The grant shall be given only once i.e. persons marrying for the first time only will be entitled to the grant except in the case, where the bride is a widow or the bride-groom a widower and this should be mentioned in the marriage registration certificate.
- Award of grant and the above facilities shall be admissible in case of marriage solemnized only after date of issue of Resolution issued by Govt. from time to time.
