Launch of PM E Drive Scheme
With an investment of โน795 crore, the previous Ministry of Heavy Industry introduced the Faster Adoption and Manufacturing Electric Vehicles in India known as (FAME-I) to promote electric and hybrid vehicles. FAME-I was first implemented on April 1, 2015, and was to remain in effect for two years. Additionally, after a review of FAME-II and EMPS-2024, the Ministry of Heavy Industries (MHI) developed the PM E-DRIVE scheme, receiving Union Cabinet approval by the guidelines outlined in the following paragraphs. The number of vehicles and the amount spent under the EMPS-2024 are included in the PM E-DRIVE Scheme’s vehicle and expenditure totals.

Objective of PM E Drive Scheme
The PM E Drive Scheme’s primary goal is to increase the number of electric cars on Indian roads. The Indian government will also encourage the usage of more electric vehicles among its residents by offering rebates to all those who acquire them under the scheme. Additionally, the Indian government plans to install 88,500 charging stations for all-electric cars around the nation. Encouraging the usage of electric vehicles will also lead to a considerable reduction in pollution and gasoline consumption. In order for EV buyers to benefit from the program’s demand incentives, the government has also developed e-vouchers. This scheme will help in fighting the battle against pollution.
