The Assam state government has launched the Nijut Moina 2.0. After observing the success of the first edition of the scheme, the Assam state government is all set to release the second edition of the scheme from 6th August. Under the second edition of the scheme, the Assam state government will provide financial benefits to the female citizens, allowing them to pursue higher education. The scheme was first introduced by the Assam state government last year with the main objective of eliminating the social evil of child marriage. The scheme was providing financial assistance of INR 1000 to the female students of the state.
Roll Out of Nijut Moina Second Edition
According to the chief minister of Assam state, Mr Hemant Biswas Sarma, the Second Edition of the scheme will be rolled out from 6th August 2025. All the female students of Assam state are eligible to avail the benefits of the scheme from 6th August. Under these initiatives, the female students studying in class 11th will receive INR 1000 per month, those in degree first year will receive INR 1250 per month, and those in postgraduation and B.Ed will receive INR 2500 per month. The monthly financial assistance will significantly enhance the financial stability of the female students and allow them to pursue their education easily.

Nijut Moina Extended to Assam University
The Assam state government has extended the scheme for students who are studying in Assam University. Previously, the scheme was only available to students who were studying in government-run universities and excluded Central universities or private universities. However, now the Chief Minister Hemant Biswa Sharma announced that the students who are studying in Assam University can avail the benefit. Under this initiative, the Assam state government will provide financial assistance of INR 2500 per month to the students for 10 months. The news of the extension was made by the Chief Minister of Assam state on 31st July 2025 after the approval from the state cabinet.
Objective of Nijut Moina 2.0
The main objective of launching the scheme is to provide benefits to the female students who were not able to receive them under the first edition. One of the most important weapons of the Assam state government towards eliminating the social evil of child marriage. This scheme will allow the female students to easily pursue education without going through any financial struggle. Female students from all families, irrespective of their economic condition, are eligible to avail the benefits of the scheme. The financial assistance will be transferred directly to the bank account of the beneficiaries.
