The Assam state government has released the Nijut Moina Scheme First Installment. All the female students of Assam state who have applied for the Nijut Moina Scheme received the first installment of the scheme on 6th October 2024. During the release of the financial assistance of the scheme Chief Minister Hemanta Biswa Sarma, Education Minister Ranoj Pegu, and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pijush Hazarika were present at the venue. With the help of this scheme, the Government of Assam state will eliminate the social evil of child marriage significantly in the Assam state. Nijut Moina Scheme First Installment Released
The Assam state chief minister, Mr Hemant Biswa Sarma, has released the first installment of the scheme to provide financial assistance to all the selected female students. According to the Government of Assam state, a total of 1.68 lakh female students of Assam state have received financial assistance under the scheme. The financial assistance will be transferred directly to the selected female student’s bank account. All those female students of Assam state who are studying in classes 11th and 12th will receive financial assistance of INR 1000 per month. The event takes place on the Veterinary college grounds in Khanapara.

What is Assam Nijut Moina Scheme?
The scheme was launched by the Assam state government to decrease the number of child marriages in Assam significantly. Under this scheme, The Assam state government will provide financial assistance to all female students so that they can pursue higher education and not engage in child marriages. The financial assistance of INR 1000 for students studying in classes 10 and 12th, INR 1250 for students studying degree, and of INR 2500 for students pursuing postgraduate. Female students can achieve their dreams and build their careers with the help of education. The selected female students will receive financial assistance under the scheme until they get married or complete their education.
Objective of Nijut Moina Scheme
The main objective of launching the Nijut Moina Scheme is to uplift the social status and standard of living of all female students. Female students will be able to complete their post-graduation and dodge the topic of marriage. On the occasion of Navratri, this program is launched by the authorities to fight child marriage. The daughters of MP and MLA’s will not be eligible for the benefits to make it more accessible for the social class. Fighting poverty and getting standardized education will be much easier through the development of the scheme. Along with this, female students will also be able to make a career out of their education much more easily.
Eligibility Criteria
- Students must be from Assam state.
- Only female students are eligible for the scheme.
- Students must be studying in class from 11th to PG.
- Students need to attend all the classes regularly.
- Students need to be disciplined and they must do well in the exams.
- Students are not allowed to get married until PG.
- The daughters of ministers, MPs, and MLAs will not be eligible for the stipends.
Financial Benefits
- Under the scheme, all girl students from Classes 11 to post-graduate level will be provided with monthly stipends.
- The stipends are Rs 1,000 for students of Classes 11 and 12, Rs 1,250 for degree students and Rs 2,500 for students pursuing post-graduation.
