With the help of this scheme, the central government of India will promote research, development, and innovation at government universities, colleges, research institutions, and R&D laboratories. The Union Cabinet of India led by Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi approved the scheme on Monday, 25th November 2024.

The One Nation One Subscription Scheme is a scheme that aims to provide research articles and journals that are published by world-class scholars. The students and researchers of India can get access to all the research journals and articles under a single portal and subscription. According to the information a total of 30 major international journal publishers have been included in One Nation One Subscription. The journals and articles will be provided to the researchers and students through a national subscription coordinated by the Information and Library Network (INFLIBNET). A total of 1.8 crore students and researchers across India will receive the benefits of the One Nation One Subscription Scheme.

Launching theย One Nation One Subscription Schemeย aims to allow the young students and Academics of India to enhance their research by getting quality research material. The authorities have included a total of 30 major international journal publishers have been included in the One Nation One Subscription scheme. More than 13000 journal and research articles will be available on the portal from all these major publishers. According to the information 6300 Government education and research institutes and R&D Laboratories will be benefited. To give access to all the journals and research articles the Department of Higher Education of India will set up a unified portal.

The Union Cabinet of India set up a total budget of INR 6000 crore for the implementation of the One Nation One Subscription. The Prime Minister of India Mr Narendra Modi himself set the budget under the schemes for the next 3 years.
